Etihad EY103 A380-800 AUH-JFK First Class Review
Now for the third leg of my A380-athon, second leg on Etihad!
As I headed out from my hotel to Abu Dhabi, I realized I had a bit of a snafu. Due to the later departure of the flight combined with the earlier checkout of my hotel, I arrived at the airport before the official check-in was open.

At least it was pretty good digs to kick back in and wait. Once they opened three hours before the flight started (I was surprised it wasn't allowed earlier, considering this is the home airport of Etihad...), I made my way to the Etihad Lounge in Abu Dhabi.
And drinks! Now I think it's a bit of an understatement to say that this menu is EXTENSIVE.
Continued...
Yeah. Extensive.
On the food front, I had to try a bit of everything.
The lounge itself was spectacular, as you would expect Etihad's home flagship lounge to be, but I was pretty exhausted by this point.
It was past midnight local time by the time we'd boarded and I asked for my bed to be made up as I was tired and cranky (the worst combo).
However, because I'm still Aaron, I had to order entirely too much food again.
Starting with the menu, as is tradition (and yes I did take pictures on the bed).
And my own selection. I was pretty stuffed for some completely unknowable reason and went with the Etihad Steak Sandwich (excellent!), the carrot cake (omg!) and the selection of ice creams (ahhh!)
Here's a shot across the aisle as morning rose on the cabin. Not too shabby of a way to spend a night.
Because I am admittedly basic, I had corn flakes and eggs for breakfast. I can't say they were the best I've ever had, but having them at 35,000 feet still adds a little panache.
It wasn't long after I woke that we were preparing for our descent into JFK and I got to enjoy two of the best parts of the A380, the view from the tail camera and the view over those beautiful engines.
This brings my 2016 Round the World adventure to a close sadly. New Zealand was an amazing destination, with many hobbit-esque adventures for all to enjoy and flying three A380s back to back to back made it a pretty darn fun way to travel as well.
