Emirates EK407 A380-800 AKL-MEL First Class Review
Okay so this one is basically stupid. I really wanted to try the Emirates First Class product on the A380 but I didn't have enough Alaska miles to be able to redeem them. So I tried to find the cheapest flight with that metal and lo and behold, there was a fifth freedom flight from Auckland to Melbourne (that further went onwards to Dubai)!

I had to do it y'all.
Even though I paid too much in cashdollars, it was truly an experience to behold and I did some rationale that a "normal" flight would also be expensive, sooooo.
Emirates A380 doesn't have the single-aisle configuration of Etihad's A380, but it doesn't make it any less extravagant.
Each first class quite had its own closing door, mini fridge and other swank accessories.
Here's a look at the food menu for this short flight:
And boozes choices!
I was obligated to do the 2006 Dom. Come on.
On top of all this, the food was excellent and abundant.
One of the other perks of the Emirates A380 is that (similar to Etihad) it has an on-board shower! And unlike the Etihad A380, it is extremely roomy! We had to try it, come on.
The crew advised that they don't normally let folks use the shower on flights this short, but they went above and beyond and obliged us. Stellar service again from the Emirates crew!
I snuck over to an empty seat to grab this view, it really helps to appreciate how incredibly lucky and fortunate I was and am to be able to travel like this. The world is beautiful.
Next up is a quick review of our hotel in Melbourne, the Intercontinental - Melbourne the Rialto and then the two Etihad flights back home to the US.
